About

Matthew is a photographer established in the cultural and commercial sectors and is known for his emotive photographs and unobtrusive, intuitive approach.

His interest in photography was sparked by a book of Andre Kertesz photographs found at the flea market of Place du Jeu de Balle in Brussels where he lived as child. He trained at Saint Martin’s School of Art and first established a studio in Spitalfields in 1992. He is based in London and Brighton, UK.

Selected projects and clients include Antony Gormley’s Fourth Plinth commission for Trafalgar Square ‘One and Other’, Artichoke Trust, The Sultans Elephant, Artists Taking the Lead and numerous other projects for Arts Council England, Brighton Festival which he documented for ten years, Bloomsbury, Bompas & Parr, The British Council, Chartis, Tim Supple’s 1001 Nights for Dash Arts/Luminato Festival in Toronto, Dunlop, Dulux, Hofesh Shechter Company, Frieze Magazine, Faber & Faber, both editions of Lumiere Festival in Durham, Museumaker, Nike, Royal Mail, Save Britains Heritage, Scottish Dance Theatre, The White Review and numerous companies and solo artists.
